The low tooth cound and agressive hook angle make ripping blades the ideal choice for, well, ripping hardwood or softwood. These are not your ideal blade for ripping plywood. Some of the blades also feature a FTG grind making them useful for 1/8" kerf cuts and making box joints because they leave a smooth, flat bottom.
